Product Reviews:

 Rating 4   3.5 star review
This is a good, follow up to Chasing Vermeer, but not as strong. Again, we find Petra and Calder (and now Tommy) involved in a mystery. But, somehow this book doesn't have the same fast paced feel as the previous. I will give the author another chance, but they best part of this book was the discussion of FLW and architecture and not the actual plot or characters.

This book is perfect read for your older child who seems interested in something similar to the Da Vinci code for kids.

 Rating 5   Great mystery book.
This book was very fun to read. There were twists and turns on every page. A great read!

The Wright 3
Blue Balliett

Calder, Petra, and Tommy are natural-born mystery-solvers. Tommy is the finder, Petra is the decipherer, and Calder is the uncoverer.

When one of their favorite houses, Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie House, is about to be torn into pieces that can be sold to museums, they are the first to get down to business. Then the three go on a field trip to the Robie House, they notice that within its stained glass windows are pentiminoes. Pentiminoes are mathematical tools that consist of twelve pieces. They believe that the pentiminoes are part of a code that is entwined into the house that Wright created. Calder, Petra, and Tommy call themselves the Wright 3. Mysterious things start to happen. For instance, Petra sees a man with a black cape drop a book out of a train that goes by, but he does it with such precise timing that he must have been trying to throw it. Also, threes start coming up everywhere, three families lived in the Robie House, three people died in the Robie house, and they are the Wright 3.

Will the three be able to save their beloved Robie House? Or will the demolition crew, or someone else, manage to steal it; invisibly?

I thought this book was good - not great - but good. A lot of the time events and details, important events and details, would go by too fast, and then later on you would become confused. The author then comes back to those things you missed, and you're not sure what she is talking about. Otherwise I thought it was a good book. The author does a great job transitioning from calm scenes to action scenes. She also portrays a lot of foreshadowing. When you read this though, be prepared to do a lot of re-capping; it helps.

 Rating 5   young adult suspense
Thriller involving a house by Frank Lloyd Wright and three young teen detectives who save the structure from being demolished by greedy crooks. The book also points up the importance of good and imaginative teachers.

 Rating 5   Wright 3
My 10-year-old son loved reading Chasing Vermeer (also by Blue Balliett). He asked for the author's other 2 books for Christmas this year: Wright 3 and The Calder Game. My son is very particular about the books he reads and it was a pleasant surprise for me to learn he likes these books. He also loved the Poppy books by Avi.
